NFC Setup Faqs
What is the difference between Mini Tags and Regular Tags
The difference between the two tags comes down to memory. The Mini tags contain less memory capacity than the larger ones. The mini tags can still hold basic emergency contact information such as name, phone number, a short address. They can also hold links (as long as the link isn't too long. To add text information use the "text field rather than the Emergency contact field to get the most space.
The larger tags can hold more information directly on the tag. Bu both can be used in different ways to hold the information you want.
How do I set up my Tag?
Start by downloading the FREE app "NFC TOOLS" as seen in our demo video. To scan your tag hold it to the back of your phone (move it around a bit if you don't find it right away). Once your phone has read your tag you can program it. Click the "write" section and choose from any of the options, or follow our demo below.
Do I need to pay a subscription to use my tag?
NO! No no and no! Our tags do not require a subscription fee to be used as we described. NFC tags are capable of doing so much more than we go into here and have a lot of uses, so for some of the more select features you may need a subscription app if you are planning to do something particular.
Can I fit my entire medical history on my tag?
YES, but there are multiple ways to do this. If you just want to add basic emergency information you can enter this under the Emergency Contact section of your tag. Something to note is this section doesn't hold much data (so you cant add much information here before you max out).
To add more information you can enter the same info in the "Text" field, and add a lot more information.
Remember each character (or space) counts as memory taken, so sometimes you may need to get rid of non-essential information to make it fit.
I Keep Getting a Max Out Error
If you have already tried the steps above but still can't fit everything on there, you can create a document, for example Google Sheet or Doc, and link it to your tag. This way you can add an unlimited amount of information and your tag will bring up the sheet. You can do this by adding a link or URL.
Instruction videos on how to do this can be found on YouTube.
Can My Tag make a call?
YES. In a sense... If you select the phone number option on your tag and add a phone number, your tag will bring up that phone number ready to call when you scan it. If you want your tag to automatically make a call you can do this on the "Task" section of NFC Tools, but you may require an additional app such as NFC Tasks.

“Tag not writable” / “Read-only”
The tag has been locked or made read-only, so it can’t be changed.
Use a new tag if you want to reprogram it. (Once locked, tags can’t be undone.)
You cannot return your tag if you have accidentally locked it.
“Tag too small” / “Not enough memory”
You’re trying to store more data than the tag can hold.
Use a shorter link or try adding less information
“NFC not available” / “NFC not supported”
The phone doesn’t have NFC, or it’s turned off.
Check phone settings (NFC toggle), or confirm the device supports NFC.
“Could not read tag” / “Tag error”
The phone can’t make a clean read (tag might be damaged or in a tricky position).
Try again, move the phone slower, or avoid metal surfaces
“This shortcut cannot be run” (iPhone)
iOS Shortcuts can’t complete the action from the tag.
Check your automation in the Shortcuts app and allow it to run without asking.
“Tag UID not supported” (Android apps)
The app doesn’t know what to do with the tag’s unique ID.
Program the tag with an actual action (URL, phone number, etc.) instead of just relying on UID.
“Operation failed” (when writing)
The write process was interrupted or not supported.
Retry, keep phone steady, and ensure NFC Tools Free is installed.
Sometimes it helps to close the app and try again.
